Bayer 04 Leverkusen is looking for a 

Head of Internationalization

Bayer 04 Leverkusen will be hiring a "Head of International Affairs" to further develop the club's internationalization strategy and to manage all relevant operational and organizational tasks in the respective department. You will be responsible for the Stakeholder and internal interface management as well as for planning and execution of international trips and events for Bayer 04's men's, women's and youth teams. The development of growth, sponsorship and monetization opportunities will also be part of the job. The aim is to increase the global visibility of Bayer 04 in connection with sustainable (commercial) partnerships internationally.

Your tasks

  • Review of existing projects, structures and processes with international scope
  • Global target market and fan potential analysis
  • Further development of existing internationalization strategy
  • Close cooperation with Bayer company; both in Leverkusen (Corporate Headquarters) and in the relevant target markets worldwide – Leverage and use of existing structures and resources
  • Identification and development of "employer branding" potential of Bayer 04 for Bayer company worldwide
  • Management and progressing of international cooperation with clubs, organizations and/or associations
  • Management and increase of commercial partnerships in relevant target markets
  • Responsibility for the planning, organization and implementation of global travel for the men's, women's and youth teams in close cooperation with the Bayer 04 Marketing-, Communications- and Sports departments
  • Creation and coordination of integrated international projects (i.e. football schools, international friendlies, speeches, summits, visits)
  • Establishment and management of a global Bayer 04 ambassador structure
  • Maintaining and development of relationship to the German League (DFL) and monitoring of financial support criteria (Rate Card)
  • Set up and manage an international business network both inside and outside the Bayer ecosystem
  • Commissioning and responsibility for international partner agencies (i.e. PR, sponsorship, digital, etc.) as well as relationships with overseas league broadcast partners
  • Management of currently three employees in the "Internationalization" department

Your skills

  • Proven marketing & communication expertise
  • Commercial mindset with ability to turn creative ideas into sponsor activation and partnership opportunities
  • Previous and significant experience in international sports and soccer business
  • Experience in event management
  • Intercultural understanding (with previous overseas work desirable) Language skills: English fluently; additional language skills are highly appreciated
  • Willingness to travel abroad regularly
